Ela Baumann studied music and dance at the University « Mozarteum » in Salzburg. In her work as a director she explores the combination of music and dance (Die beiden Musikanten Davies, Philharmonie Berlin; Rusalka Dvorak, Sibiu; Bastien and Bastienne Mozart, Luxembourg; The Merry Widow Lehar, Cologne; Zirkus Sardam Charms, collectif Dadofonic Luxemburg).
She created choreographies for The Merry Wives of Windsor Nicolai, Erfurt Theatre; Barbe Bleue Offenbach, Opera Zuid in Maastricht; The Brussels Requiem Moody, La Monnaie Brussels; Der Turm Lenners, Grand Théatre de Luxembourg;, Systrar Franzs, Uppsala stadtsteater.
Ela Baumanns great passion is music and dance theater for young audienc. As a director, choreographer and librettist she developed plays like Next stop:blue, (K)eine Alpensage Dienz, Das goldene Herz, Rocky Roccoco, Drumblebee, Mausemärchen und Riesengeschichte Naske, LOLLO Naske.
Ela Baumann’s creations for young audience are shown in numerous concerthalls and theatres around the world: Lucerne Festival, Vienna State opera Konzerthaus Berlin, Washington Kennedy-Center,Hong Kong City Hall, Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie Cologne, Philharmonie Luxemburg.Her work got awarded with junge-ohren-preis, YEAH ! Young EARopean Award and YOUNG AUDIENCE MUSIC AWARD Public choice, Concours litteraire national du Luxembourg.
